Kathleen “Kathy” R. Meisner, 70, Kaukauna, WI, passed away Thursday morning, August 21, 2014, in the comfort of her own home and the presence of her family after having bravely battled several cancers over the past 3 years. Despite these difficulties and challenges, she never complained, and remained a strong inspiration to her family, friends, and those she met along the way.
Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Roger; two children, Randall (Chris) Meisner of Appleton, WI; and Steven Meisner of Big Bend, WI; two grandchildren, Lauryn Meisner, and Wyatt Meisner, and many other relatives and friends.
Kathy was born March 11, 1944 in Appleton, WI to Albion and Idella Bennett. She enjoyed her childhood in the Bonduel area where she was raised by her mother Idella and her step father Walter Dirks. She married Roger Meisner (her “bunch”) September 2, 1960. She lived in Kaukauna most of her life, where she and Roger raised their two sons.
Kathy had the gift of hospitality, a wonderful sense of humor, and always a positive outlook or word of encouragement for others. She was loving, caring and devoted mother and wife. She loved gardening, going to the family cabin “up north” in Land o' Lakes, caring for her pets, cooking and baking, conversation with friends, and simply being with her family. Every morning she enjoyed a cup of coffee and her home baked cookies with her “bunch”.
As a committed follower of Christ, she found inspiration in the bible verse “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8).
Kathy had a peace and presence that resonated with those she touched – as she touched us all in a way that her family and friends will feel for generations.
The funeral services for Kathy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Highland Memorial Park Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St. Appleton, with Rev. Dick Schaefer officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave, Kaukauna, and again at Highland Memorial Park Star of Hope Chapel from 10:00 a.m until the time of service.
The family wishes to thank the health care team that assisted along the way. A special thanks to the kind staff at Martha Siekman Cancer Center in Appleton, WI and the nursing staff with ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
