REYNOLDS, KATHERINE “Trina”
nee Kratzer
Trina Reynolds, age 49, of Appleton, passed away in the company of family and friends at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, October 2, 2011. She was born on March 29, 1962, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, to Helen (Spasoff) Kratzer and the late Carl G. Kratzer. Trina graduated from Appleton West High School, majored in music at the University of Minnesota and was currently earning a degree in English Literature. She was employed by her family's Burger King franchise. Trina had many passions and interests. She enjoyed golfing, baking for family and friends, performing music, and cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers. It will come as no surprise to those who knew her that Trina fought cancer with all of her considerable bravery, passion and unfailing humor. She established The Trina Fund in 2009, a source of financial support for women with breast cancer. Trina shared her wealth of optimism and faith and fierce determination with the family and friends who loved her. Her legacy—memories of laughter, joy and love and the sound of her beautiful singing voice—will comfort and sustain them. Survivors include her mother, Helen; her children, Hillary Reynolds and Nicholas Reynolds; her sisters, Kristine (Donald) Hietpas; and Carol (Bruce) Valk; her brother, Steven (Rhea) Kratzer. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews, Joseph (Shay) Hietpas, Ann (Jeffrey) Prince, Kristin Hietpas, Jenna Hietpas, Margaret Hietpas, Carlyn Kratzer, Grant Kratzer, Sylvia Valk and Carl Valk; her grand niece and nephew, Leighton and Cole Hietpas, and her grand niece, Katherine Prince, her namesake. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 East South River Street, Appleton with Rev. Jane Anderson and Rev. Stephen P. Savides officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Donations can be made to The Trina Fund at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Trina's many caregivers, Anna Wiese, Rev. Jane Anderson, friends, and physicians, especially the staff at St. Elizabeth Fourth Floor Oncology Department, Dr. Nancy Homberg, The Houston Ground Angels, M.D. Anderson Cancer Treatment Center.
