Karen Lise Bowen

Karen Lise Bowen, born on March 15, 1966, in Glens Falls, New York, to John and Oletta Bowen, passed away on May 31, 2024, due to complications from pneumonia. Karen was blessed with an extra chromosome, which made her a unique and cherished member of our family. Karen was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sheryl Bowen.

Karen's life was filled with joy and accomplishment. She proudly participated in the Special Olympics, an event she took part in with great enthusiasm, winning numerous gold medals. Her spirited nature and infectious happiness brought light to everyone she met.

Karen loved to travel and had memorable trips with her mother and father, touring various parts of Europe and the United States. She was an avid fan of country music, dancing, bowling, and horse racing. Karen also enjoyed working at local workshops throughout her life, where she made many friends and enjoyed her tasks.

She is survived by her two loving brothers, Kevin Bowen (Merry) of Menasha, WI and Brian Bowen (Dena Greenwood) of Dallas, TX, along with several adoring nieces and nephews: Chris (Nicki) DePasquale, Melissa (Rob) Fischer, Kerry (Chad) Bowen, Michael Bowen, and Caroline Bowen. The family extends special thanks to the compassionate staffs at the Saldana Family Home and Heartwood Homes for their exceptional care of Karen over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Special Olympics, a local animal rescue, or a charity of your choice in Karen’s memory.

Karen will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts, remembered for her love, laughter, and the beautiful spirit she shared with the world.

Funeral services for Karen will be on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Homes, Tri-County Chapel on Oneida Street in Menasha. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
