Julie L. Kortbein

October 15, 1957 — May 5, 2024

Menasha

Hi, this is Julie.   God saw how tired I was.  He said, “Julie, you’ve suffered enough”, and he called me home on May 5, 2024.

Where do I start?   I’ve had such a good life.  The people I’ve met along the way have enriched my life.  Some people have been my friends since childhood.  Others have come into my life as the years passed.

I came into this world on October 15, 1957 in Clintonville, WI.  Believe it or not, I was a shy girl!  But being an owner of a hair salon nudged me to open up and learn how to connect with people of all walks of life.  And connect we did!

I truly enjoyed gardening and looked forward to it each spring!  I also treasured getting together with friends and family and laughing until our bellies hurt!

I am preceded in death by my parents, Verlyn and Ruth Kortbein; sister, Lois Lauterbach; brother-in-law, Mike Glubka; and special friend, Steve Metcalf.

I am survived by my sister Marcia (George) Thayer of Ocala, FL, sister Karen Hill of Clintonville, WI, sister Linda Glubka of Brookfield, WI, brother-in-law Rudy Lauterbach of Door County, WI, sister Mary Kortbein (Martin Wobig) of Springdale, UT, and brother Robert (Pam) Kortbein of Eau Claire, WI.

I deeply enjoyed spending time with my nieces and nephews and their children.  My godson, Chris Lauterbach; Erica Plesser; Mandy Hill and her children, Marley and Mayzie; Rob Hill and his children, Mason, Matthew, and Myles; Steve Hill; Dan Glubka and his children, Addie and Mike; Lisa Payne and her children, Andrew and Lydia; Jeff Lauterbach and his girls, Avery and Ella; Sarah Blanks and her children, Quinn and Reagan; Jace Kortbein; and Mitchell Kortbein.

The visitation for my memorial service will be held from 9-11 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2220 E College Ave in Appleton, with my memorial service to follow at 11 AM.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Appleton, WI.
