Judith Ann Schertz (née Beyer), affectionately known as Judi, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024, in Appleton, WI, at the age of 77. Judy was born in New London, WI. on October 21, 1946, and lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and a vibrant love for her family, friends, and pets.
Judi was a graduate of New London High School and carried the spirit of her hometown throughout her life. She was a beacon of joy, known for her contagious laugh, colorful vocabulary and ability to light up any room she entered. Judi had a Hunk a Hunk a Burnin Love for Elvis Presley, and Judi often expressed her spirited defense of his legendary "Blue Suede Shoes."
Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Jen (Marty) Nussbaum of Kaukauna; sisters, Carol "Peachy" Wegner of New London and Barb Beyer of Bear Creek; along with sisters-in-law Sally Norder, Joan (Tom) Lehman, Gerri Schertz, and brother-in-law Jeff (Tammy) Schertz. Her extended family includes several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a Grand Dog who will miss her dearly.
Judi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Schertz; son, Bradley Schertz; her parents, Dorothy and Lawrence Beyer; stepfather, Glen Finger; siblings, Gary Beyer, Dale Beyer, Yvonne Fielding, Sharon Beyer; and her nephew, Christopher Beyer and niece, Kimberly Wegner.
An ardent animal lover, Judi cherished her cats, Charlie, Elsa, Sadie, and Tiger, and had a special bond with her grand dog, Quinn. Her social spirit shone brightly, especially on her front porch on Wisconsin Avenue, where she was lovingly dubbed "The Wisconsin Avenue Cutie." Judi's love for socializing extended to her favorite local spots, the Round About and Plan B bars, where she was embraced as part of a larger family circle.
A passionate supporter of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs, Judi also enjoyed thrilling race days at Wisconsin International Raceway with her daughter, watching her son-in-law flag the figure 8's.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 24, 2024, at the Round About Bar and Grill in Kaukauna from 12 pm to 5 pm. Food and drinks will be provided. All who knew Judi are invited to join and share memories of a woman whose life was a testament to joy, love, and unending kindness.
