Judith “Judy” Ann Martin, age 84 of Neenah, WI passed away on October 16, 2026. She was born to Burton and Blanche (Verheyen) Martin on May 10, 1943 in Neenah, WI. After graduating from high school, she became an alumni of St. Norbert College and earned a Master’s degree in education from Viterbo University. Judy went on to teach middle school life science and English for 37 years at St. Margaret Mary School and the Freedom Public School System before her happy retirement in 2006. Judy never married, but she found love with her life partner, William “Scorchy” Sylvester, as well as other types of love with her family and her students.
If you had the true pleasure of knowing Judy, you know how kind and caring she was. You knew her matriarchal role and how she took care of everyone she knew. Judy was quite a humorous woman and always had a great sense of wit. She enjoyed reading and expanding her education in her free time. In her youth, you could often find Judy cruising around town in one of her fancy cars or on her motorcycle. More than anything, though, Judy loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and all the grands and great-grands.
Judy will be deeply missed by her siblings, Jim (Sharon) and Nancy (Don); her nieces and nephews, Paul (Mariana), Jeff (Sue), Cory (Kim), Joe (Kim), John (Deanna), Scott, Tammy, Willie (Deb), Kim (Scott), Craig (Gina), Mindy (Doug), Chris (Diane), Rob (Jenn), Jenny (Jason); many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; her Goddaughter, Kaylee; as well as many other extended relatives and dear friends.
Judy is preceded in death by her partner, Bill “Scorchy”; her siblings, Harold (Janice), Sally (Eugene “Sonny”), Dave, Mary, and Rick; her parents, Burton and Blanche; her nephews, Todd and Jeremy “Beaver”; her niece, Julie; and her great-nephew, Mike.
A memorial visitation will be held for Judy from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, 1592 S. Oneida St, Menasha, WI 54952 with a celebration of life service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Menasha Senior Center, a place where Judy joyfully volunteered much of her time and spread her kindness.
Judy’s family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and other supporting staff at Peabody Manor and Copperstone Assisted Living for the wonderful, compassionate care provided to Judy during her times of need.
Judy was a big believer in acts of kindness, no matter how big or small. Please live like her and pay that forward whenever you find an opportunity!
