Joyce Claire Jacobson passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024, with family by her side.
The daughter of Gustav and Lillian (Mau) Jacobson, Joyce was born and raised in Kaukauna where she graduated valedictorian from Kaukauna High School in 1954.
At Lawrence University, Joyce pursued musical studies while earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1958. Her career in computer processing and systems analysis began as a civilian employee of Navy Station Great Lakes and continued for more than 30 years with the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Administration.
Joyce resided in Madison for most of her adult life and enjoyed owning her home near Cherokee Marsh, singing in many choirs, reading for book clubs, traveling to see cousins, and joining friends at Björklunden in Door County.
Joyce is survived by beloved cousins; sister-in-law Carol (nee Dolbier) Jacobson; niece Kristin Shebesta, nephews Derek (Lori) Jacobson and Dana (Deb) Jacobson; and grandnephews Christopher Shebesta, Jonathan (Heidi) Shebesta, Bennett (Grace) Shebesta, Isaac (Hailey) Moen, and Elijah Jacobson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother John Charles Jacobson, infant sister Lois Mary; and dear family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in Kaukauna on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Friends and family may gather at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Ave, with visitation from 10:00am until service begins at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Union Cemetery.
The family is grateful to medical and support staff at Three Pillars in Dousman and Allay Home & Hospice who provided exceptional care and comfort in Joyce’s last months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Lawrence University for Björklunden.
