Joseph James Hilgers Sr.

Joseph James Hilgers, Sr., age 68, died on Monday morning, April 22, 2024, at Cherry Meadows Hospice Residence in Appleton.  Joe was born on January 9, 1956, to the late Ralph Hilgers and Jean Hilgers (Sokoloski).  

Joe served in the United States Navy.  He worked at Acrocel for many years and then at Kimberly Clark until the time of his retirement.  Joe enjoyed hunting and sports and he loved time spent on his Harleys.  

He is survived by two sons, Joseph J (Jennifer Gill) Hilgers and Travis M (Andrea) Hilgers both of Neenah; Special grandchildren Ashlei, Alethia, Paige, Aspen and Wyatt; a brother Robert Hilgers, two sisters Deborah (Brian) Walters and Roxanne (Rick) Hartwig all of Peshtigo; an Uncle George (Carol) Sokoloski of Menasha and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.  Joe was proceeded in death by both of his parents.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday May 4, 2024, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. Friends and family may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm when a time of informal sharing will take place. Joe will be interred at Central Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery, King, WI.
