Obituary

Jolene Kay Lamers passed away April 11, 2026, at the age of 72 after a long battle with stage 4 COPD. She was born January 14, 1954, the first-born child of Milton and Ruth (Lueck) Collar.

Jolene was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville where she also attended grade school. Growing up she participated in 4H events and then she graduated from Hortonville High School in 1972 where she was a cheerleader and very active in GAA. After high school she was employed at Valley Bank in Appleton. She ended up in the dental field and worked for Dr James Springborn and Dr. Thomas Hempel at Fox Valley Dental & Associates for over 25 years.

On September 24, 1977, she was united in marriage to Larry Lamers at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Clint Lamers.

Jolene and Larry enjoyed couples bowling at the local lanes and they both were always around volleyball. Jolene loved going to baseball and fastpitch softball games throughout her life. When Clint was younger and Larry was coaching, it was Jolene there too at every game cheering from one of the sets of bleachers. She also loved attending the musicals and plays that Clint would participate in.As time went on she became much more of a wild-life enthusiast and LOVED sitting on her deck in the backyard with either Buster or Conan. Jolene and Larry were able to see the cardinals, robins, woodpeckers, hawks, turkeys, deer, finch, chipmunks, foxes, and any other critters that might pass through. When she wasn’t on the deck her and Larry would take the dogs to the dog park and enjoy the sights in this fashion. She was definitely more of a sports nut than she let on. From watching Wimbledon or the US Open for tennis to cheering on the Bucks and Brewers. Jolene was around to see the huge boom in women’s volleyball and was able to cheer on the lady Badgers quite a bit. But her all-time favorite sporting event to watch was the Olympics, both the summer and winter versions. She was always talking about the miracle on ice and it was so fitting that she was in somewhat decent health to watch what happened in February. She was loudly and proudly cheering on Team USA’s men and women teams take home the gold medals.

Jolene is survived by her husband of 49 years, Larry, her son Clint. She is survived by her siblings: Brad (Jean) Collar, Janelle (Steve) Puckett, and Jana (Don) Ogden. She is survived by in-laws: Wayne Vande Hey, Dan (Kathy), Ken (Nancy), and Pat (Jackie). She is also survived by her cousin Cheryl (Laabs) Hagen, Jerome and Greg Laabs and many other nieces and nephews.

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents Milt and Ruth Collar (Lueck), Milt’s second wife Shirley (Kronschnabel) and father-in-law Thomas and Dorothy (Look) Lamers
