John R. Myers, age 94, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community. He was born to the late John and Anna Myers.
On June 27, 1953, John married the love of his life, Jeanne Lafortune. Together they shared 72 wonderful years of marriage and raised five children. John proudly served his country as a United States Marine. He and Jeanne were longtime members of St. John United Church of Christ in Appleton, where they faithfully served their community.
John dedicated his career to the trucking industry, where he was part-owner of a successful business for many years. Known for his skill and curiosity, he loved working on engines of all kinds. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and traveling. Even after retirement, John stayed active by driving cars for a local dealership, a role that took him across many states.
John is lovingly remembered by his children: John (Wendy) Myers, Chuck Myers, Judi (Richard) Kuether, Cherri Schultz, and Vicki (Kelly) Passineau; grandchildren: Andy (Katie), Amanda, Robert, Tyler (Megan), and Katie; and three great-granddaughters. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles Myers, and his sister Molene Smith and is survived by his sister Patricia Mueller.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, with Pastor Lori Lossie officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will take place at the end of the service. Burial will follow at Dale Union Cemetery.
