John E. Meixl

John Meixl, age 79 of Kimberly, passed away at his home on Monday afternoon, May 15, 2023.  John was born in Oshkosh on March 21, 1944, son of the late Earl and Jean (Washburn) Meixl.  On January 14, 1967, he married Pat DeShaney who survives.

John loved the cottage at Lakewood, especially fishing on Maiden and Wheeler Lakes. He liked hunting and all kinds of sports, the Brewers, and watching from his porch as the little kids played baseball in the park across the street.  In his earlier years he played some golf, but lately he treasured his Tuesday mornings when he gathered with his high school buddies to have breakfast at Old Glory.  Close to his heart were his grandkids, especially the little ones.

John is survived by his wife Pat; two sons: Rick (Jill) Meixl and Randy Meixl; five grandchildren: Jenni (Andrew) Kehrberg, Eric (Trent) Dix – Meixl, Scott (Haley) Meixl, Ryan Meixl, and Charli Meixl; three great-grandchildren: Hudson Meixl, Ian Kehrberg, and Janesly Vander Wielen; a sister: Sue (Bruce) VanderVelden; a brother: Steve Meixl; and a sister-in-law: Rose Meixl.  Other survivors include Pat’s family: Robert (Sheri) DeShaney, Jeanne (Allen) Lamers, Mary Ann (Robert) Schreiber, Gerald (Pam) DeShaney, Tom Hopfensperger, Judy Schoepel, John (Mary) DeShaney, Wendy (Gary) Lodholz, Kim (Rick) Surman, and Kerry (Bruce) Goffard.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard; mother-in-law Rita Wittmann DeShaney; father-in-law Clarence DeShaney; brothers-in-law Clarence “Mike” DeShaney, Ron Schoepel, and Ken Levknecht; and sisters-in-law Sharon Hopfensperger and Kathy Rose DeShaney.

The funeral service for John will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, located at 204 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly.  Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and continue until the time of the service.
