John P. Jungers

March 17, 1939 — November 29, 2025

Appleton

John P. Jungers, age 86, died early Saturday morning on November 29, 2025. He was born March 17, 1939, to the late Fred J, and Loretta (Freese) Jungers, in Green Bay, WI and graduated from Appleton High School in 1957. He married Phyllis Schedler on May 27, 1988, and they have been married for 37 years.

John started his first job at the age of 13 shining shoes, and owned several businesses (gas station, Ziebert Rustproofing) before going into business with Phyllis in 1978, opening T.O.U.C.H. Dance Attic. They owned and operated many iterations of restaurants at Between the Locks. They continued in the restaurant business and opened Adler Brau Brewery (the first brewpub in the area) in the late 80’s and retired in 2005. After retirement, they spent their winters in AZ and made many friends there throughout the years. They also spent summers in their RV on Legend Lake. He was involved with Rotary Club, Investment Club, Tavern League and the Restaurant Association.

John enjoyed many hobbies. He was big into motors: speedy cars, classic cars, hot rods, he loved them all. He was always active and loved to golf, enjoyed biking and was an avid skier. In addition, he enjoyed drag racing in his younger years. He was also a true brewmaster and the brewing of “his beer” was a passion that resulted many awards for his craft.

True to his sassy nature, in his later years, he cultivated many friends in AZ who truly became like family. He was even a part of “motorcycle group” filled with guys who drove their three wheeled trikes anywhere and everywhere. The “Los Amigos Casket Dodgers” made the rounds and even had patches made to celebrate their membership.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis, three children: Kari and Tim Plass, Paul and Brenda Jungers, Kate Jackson, 4 grandchildren: Sam (Sarah) Plass, Ben (Kim) Plass, Serena (Geoff) Rue, Sadie (special friend Nathan) Jungers and 10 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Fred (Joan) Jungers, and sister Mary Damrow, and other relatives and friends.

In addition, John’s bonus family will greatly miss him and includes: bonus children: Gary (Joyce) Boeder, Sue (Gary) Wendland, Nancy (Jim) Snyder, Jim (Sue) Boeder, Monica (Tom) Fricke; bonus grandchildren: Nicole, Lisa, Jill, Kim, Travis, Kelly, Leslie, Jay, Amanda, Ashley, Adam, Matt, Dan, Rachel; 34 bonus great grandchildren and 3 bonus double greats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Jungers and son-in-law Carl Jackson.

A memorial service will take place on Monday December 8, 2025, at 11:00am, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E Glendale Ave, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until the service begins.
