John F. Mau

John F. Mau, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 3, 2010. He was born in Kaukauna n April 1, 1911, son of the late John and Magdelina (Nickolas) Mau. On October 13, 1936, John married the former Agnes “Puggy” Hartzheim in Kaukauna. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1996.

He lost his mother at a young age, but John frequently spoke fondly of his childhood years. Family has always played a very important role in his life – he loved spending time with his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. For many years John worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper as the Utility Supervisor, and will be remembered by all as being a fair manager.

Survivors include two sons: John (Joann) Mau of Kaukauna and David (Marjorie) Mau of Green Bay; a son-in-law: Ed Schreiner of Estero, Florida; eleven grandchildren: Cindy (Steve) Behm, John (Kathy) Mau, Cheryl (Bob) Ellis; Jeffrey Mau; Joel (Beth) Mau; Michael (Christine) Mau; Susan (Dan) Larson; Christopher Mau; Teri Schreiner, MD; Douglas (Phoebe) Schreiner; and Cathy (Joe) Barcello. There are also twenty-four great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law: Lillian Mau of Denver, Colorado. John was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Joan Schreiner in 1996 and several brothers and sisters: Ed (Loretta) Mau, Henry (Frieda) Mau, Harvey Mau, Esther (Ed) Sager, Lillian (Gus) Jacobson, and Laura (Amy) Bayorgeon.

Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna on Saturday, January 9, 2010, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Visiting hours will conclude with a prayer service Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
