John E. Bowman

September 20, 1919 — April 7, 2013

John Edward Grant Bowman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ on Sunday, April 7, 2013. John was born on September 20, 1919 in Mountain, Wisconsin, to Charles A. and Anna E. Olson Bowman. He married Leatrice June Arps on October 25, 1947 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kaukauna by the Rev. Paul Th. Oehlert.

John was a painter at Kimberly Clark/REPAP/MidTech for 42 years before retiring in 1981. For over 65 years, he was very involved with his church, whether it be as Church President, Elder, Trustee or choir member. He enjoyed his family tremendously. He bowled until he was 89 years old and enjoyed every minute of it. John and Lea traveled all over to visit the “kids” wherever they may be. They enjoyed seeing the country and the world. John took good care of the home he built and the yard. They enjoyed their “UP North” place on Chute Pond near Mountain. Dad always had a welcoming fire burning.

John is survived by his dear wife of 65 years: Leatrice; his children: Dennis (Kathleen) Bowman and Susan (David) Mory. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Scott (Renee) Bowman, Samantha (Travis) Baer, Paul Bowman and Sydney Mory; and his great-grandchildren Aurora, Emma and Ethan Baer. He is further survived by his sister-in-law: Bernice Arps, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Henry and Olga Arps; his sisters: Malinda (Carl) Olson, Bertha (Everett) Udell and Evelyn Schroeder; his brothers: Swen (Clara) Bowman and Milton Bowman. He was also predeceased by Lea's siblings: Mildred (Francis) Schmidt, Wilma Rausch, Beulah (Lyle) Jansch, Gilbert Arps, Melvin (Anita) Arps, Kenneth Arps, Ruth (Woodrow, John) Alger Wier and nieces and nephews.

The Christian Funeral for John will be on Thursday, April 11th at 11 AM at TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH the corner of Grignon and Tobacnoir Streets in Kaukauna with the Revs. Karl Schultz and Timothy Wilkens officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the time of service. John will be entombed at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated for the Trinity Organ Fund.

John's family would like to thank Pastors Schultz and Wilkens for their spiritual support. They would also like to thank the caregivers at American Grand, Heartland Hospice, and Parkside Care Center for making his final days comfortable.
