John Wallace deVos

June 16, 1947 — September 13, 2025

Appleton

John Wallace deVos, 78, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025.

Born in 1947, John was the son of the late Wallace and Nina deVos. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (June) deVos.

John lived a full and vibrant life. He served proudly in the Army Reserves as a young man and enjoyed a long and successful career as an electrical engineer at Kimberly Clark. In his retirement, John dedicated time to volunteering at his church, local warming shelter, and the Salvation Army, enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Fox Valley Bridge Club, and was a beloved member of his community. He found joy in the simple things: a fun game of cards, a good spy novel, winter vacations to Florida, and the company of friends and family. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and warm sense of humor.

John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marcia deVos; his children, Jennifer (Tim and grandsons, Jamie and Jacob) Trzebiatowski and Luke (Andrea and grandsons, William and Jack) deVos; and his sister, Diane deVos. He will be missed dearly.

Funeral mass details are being planned and will be updated when they are available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to advance research and education in oncology (for the treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma).
