John D. Bogan, age 60, passed away at his home early on Friday morning, September 30, 2011. John was born in Appleton on October 14, 1950 and was a 1969 graduate of Appleton East High School. John served in the United States Navy for some twenty four years, obtaining the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He later worked at Anchor Foods, Home Depot, and most recently had been self-employed as a sales representative for Integrity Roofing. John enjoyed deer hunting, walleye fishing, and working on his cabin near Amberg. He was known by all as the family fix-it man – he could fix anything, anywhere, anytime. He was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan.
John is survived by his wife of thirty-six years: Kathy (nee LaMaide) Bogan of Appleton; two daughters: Kelly Bogan (Matt) and Stacy Bogan; four grandchildren: Hannah, Quinci, Lynden, and Wyatt; five brothers and sisters: Michael (Carol) Bogan, Patrick (Peggy) Bogan, Ellen (Tom) Taplin, Kathy (Bruce) Huelsbeck, and Jean (Jim) Piette; a sister-in-law: Marcee Bogan; Kathy's siblings: Eleanor LaMaide, June Pluger, George LaMaide, John (Sue) Cook, Jan (Bill) Rausch, and Clarice Kraft; and his life-long friend: Mike Abendroth; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother Doris Bogan, and brothers Dan Bogan, Peter Bogan, and Allen Bogan.
Funeral services for John will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tim Krick of Christ the King Lutheran Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.
