Joel Richard Krueger of Howard, Wisconsin, passed away on April 11, 2025 at the age of 61. Born on May 20, 1963, Joel’s life was a reflection of his faith, selflessness, and deep commitment to others.
A devoted Lutheran, Joel’s faith guided his every step, shaping his relationships, his actions, and the way he served his community. He lived with a sense of purpose, kindness, and compassion.
Joel’s career was rooted in service. He began his professional journey as a Physician Assistant in emergency medicine, where he brought skill and care to those in need. In August 1994, Joel joined the Green Bay Fire Department, where he dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of the community for 27 years. Joel retired as a Captain in April 2021, a decision driven by his deep love and devotion to his mother, Marion, whom he cared for in her later years.
Outside of his professional life, Joel was an avid bicyclist and an enthusiastic volunteer. Whether on local trails or helping others in any way he could, Joel was always giving his time and energy to better the lives of those around him.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and James Krueger.
He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey; his nephews, Joel and James; and many friends, colleagues, and community members who will remember him for his leadership, kindness, and compassion.
A funeral service to celebrate Joel’s life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S Webster Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301 on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10 AM with a visitation starting at 9 AM. Joel will be laid to rest at Nicolet Memorial Park in Green Bay, WI. All are invited to join in honoring the memory of a man whose life was defined by faith, service, and love.
