JoAnn Lynne Syring, age 76, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully on February 28, 2024, with her family by her side. JoAnn was the only child of Samuel and Ann Nau, and was born in Appleton, WI. In 1967, JoAnn received a fortuitous birthday card in the mail from a “secret admirer.” Thomas Syring’s mom shared the same birthday as JoAnn and when he saw his mom purchasing a card for JoAnn, he decided to send one too. She called him to thank him and the rest is 57 years of history and 56 years of marriage.
JoAnn and Tom proceeded to have two children and raised their children in Appleton. From the beginning of their married life Tom and JoAnn were a part of St Joseph Parish in Appleton.
She graduated from Appleton West High School and went on to study nursing at UW Madison while she worked as a CNA. She worked many years as a bank teller and moved up the ranks to become a manager; she then spent many years raising her children and being a wonderful partner for Tom.
JoAnn loved country music and was the card shark of the family cribbage game after Tom taught her how to play. She loved to bake chocolate chip cookies and passed along her mom’s recipe to her family. The dough seldom made it to baking day! Ever the energetic person, JoAnn loved to do water aerobics, and enjoyed biking and walking. She loved to listen to country music and enjoyed sewing.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband Thomas “Tom”; her children Eric (Amy Lehr) Syring, Tammie Roe; grandchildren: Kyle Syring, Heather Syring, Cayden Syring, Brooklyn Tews, Jordyn Roe, Justin Roe and Jaedyn Roe; as well as 7 great grandchildren.Preceding JoAnn in death are her parents.
