Joan Ann Schneider (Ellenbecker), age 93 of Kaukauna, WI passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026 at St. Paul Nursing Home in Kaukauna. She was the daughter of William and Rose (Pruchnofski) Ellenbecker, born in Appleton, WI on October 26, 1932. Joan married the love of her life, Glenn Schneider of Hollandtown on September 7, 1955 and together, they raised four sons.

Joan worked at various offices throughout her life, but the position she loved most was working the tollbooth at the Outagamie County Airport. She loved meeting all the people. She also spent much of her time working as a guardian ad litem for various people in need. Joan enjoyed cross-country skiing and the challenging game of golf. She was well known (especially within her family) for her delicious cookies. On many occasions, you could often find her curled up with a good book or starting a new needlepoint sewing project. More than anything, though, Joan loved her family and cherished every moment she could with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Joan will be deeply missed by her children, Mike (Sue), Cliff (Cindy), Dan (Jackie), and Dave (Amy); 11 grandchildren; a pile of great-grandchildren; her sister, Marilyn; her siblings-in-law, George and Roseman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

In respect to Joan’s wishes, a private family service will be held in the near future. Joan will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Dementia Society of America in honor of Joan.

Joan’s family would like to thank St. Paul Elder Services, especially the staff at Appletree Court, Poppy Path, and St. Paul Hospice for their compassionate care they gave to Joan throughout her years there.
