VANSELOW, JOAN H.
Joan N. Vanselow, age 74, of Grand Chute, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton. Joan was born on July 4, 1935, in Whitefish Bay, to the late Norand and Amanda (Kane) La Porte. Joan graduated from Holy Angles Academy, Milwaukee and Loretta Heights University in Colorado. She married Don Vanselow on June 10, 1961, in Milwaukee. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church for many years and her faith was very important to her. It provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life. Joan enjoyed the family cottage on Lake Moshawquit and especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and pets. Perhaps her strongest gift was her ability to connect with children in a special way, providing them with unconditional love, encouragement, self confidence, excitement and fun. Survivors include her husband of 48 years Don; her children, Michael (Joni) Vanselow, Lino Lakes, Minnesota; Catherine (Danny) MacCharles, Onalaska; and Thomas (Joan) Vanselow, Appleton; her grandchildren, Michelle, Jason and Jesse Vanselow; Kaitlyn MacCharles; and Joshua, Matthew and Nathan Vanselow; and her sister, Patti Kasal, Milwaukee. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name.
