Jay Burke, age 50, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4th at UW-Madison Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Jay was born in Michigan on July 17, 1973. He came across the big lake to Wisconsin 19 years ago and ended up staying after meeting Alicia Hayek and her two children, Jose Jimenez and Dominique Hayek. He considered the children to be his own. They had many adventures together and laughed often. Movies and music were a common interest they all enjoyed.
Jay was a creative soul already as a young child. He had a passion for art which came through in his drawings, woodworking, Claymation, murals, and screen printing. He was a talented tattoo artist. He was a kind soul who loved the outdoors especially water. In his younger years, he was an avid skate boarder, surfer and punk rocker. He was in a punk rock band called the “Kumquats”. He loved music but especially Rock and Roll and alternative punk.
Jay’s love language was food. He was known as a magical cook who could transform any ingredient into something amazing. He enjoyed cooking steaks to perfection and creating a feast for holidays. He cooked with love and passion.
Jay was a cat guy. The cats absolutely loved him and sought him out to snuggle. He will be truly missed by his kitties, China and Zesty who have been with him for 18 years.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Alicia Hayek and her two children, Jose Jimenez and Dominique Hayek (boyfriend, Cory). He is further survived by his mother, Robin Roat, brother, Michael Aldworth, special niece Lexi and her three children, Aunt Becky (Kim) Droste, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wild Bill; special Uncle, David Roat; and his Grandma and Grand Roat.
