Jean Ann Maas Pike fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on April 28, 2025 to continue her eternal journey with God. Jean will be deeply missed by her children, David (Catherine) Pike (Lansing MI), Steven (Mary Carle) Pike (Mequon, WI), Cheryl (Tom Delaney) Pike (Neenah); her children’s father Richard W. (Sue Hlinak) Pike (Appleton); sister Mary Ellen Hamilton (Madison), brother William (Kathy) Maas (Grand Rapids MI); grandsons Nicholas (Stephanie) Furman (Neenah), Joseph Delaney (Burnsville, MN), Christopher (Katie) Pike (East Lansing, MI) and Matthew Pike (Lansing, MI); great-grandchildren Jack, Luke and Lizzie (East Lansing, MI), and Kaysyn and Braelynn (Neenah); and numerous nieces and nephews and their families and several cousins.
Jean was born on February 23, 1936 in Brandon, WI, the daughter of Melvin and Gladys Winans Maas and grew up in Waupun. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and was a graduate of UW-Oshkosh.
After raising a family, running a Christian nursery school and serving in numerous social outreach positions in Appleton, Jean began her fulltime church staff ministry to Jesus Christ, and became an Associate in Ministry and a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She served Grace Lutheran in Apple Valley, MN, Bethel Lutheran in Madison, and retired from Peace Lutheran in Oshkosh. Jean was active in social justice issues through ESTHER (Fox Valley Social Justice Ministry), St. Paul Lutheran Church-Neenah, AAUW (American Association of University Women) and enjoyed volunteering to serve others in the community. In lieu of flowers, the family will donate any monetary gifts to ESTHER and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A memorial service to praise God and celebrate the life of Jean will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St, Neenah on Friday, May 16, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., funeral at 11:00 a.m.
