Appleton

Emblem

Born on December 3rd, 1931, passed on October 16, 2024. Jean was the oldest child of Roland and Della (Jouno) Mayer. Jean grew up on a farm east of Stockbridge where she learned to love all animals and nature. She graduated from Stockbridge High School and then graduated from Oshkosh State University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Teaching.

In January of 1958 she married Clarence (Sam) Duginski. They lived their entire married life in the house Sam built on Manitowoc Road in Menasha. When Sam passed away in 2007, Jean moved from their home to the Village of Harrison.

She spent 46 years teaching, which she loved, 37 of those years were spent at St John’s Catholic School in Menasha. She loved working with children. After retiring she did volunteer work at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve and the Community Clothes Closet. Over the years, Jean loved camping with her family and tending to her flower and vegetable garden.

She loved to spend time with her family who she adored very much—"kids keep feeding the birds”.

Jean had two children, Sandy (Les) Spindler of Kaukauna and Chuck (Karen) Duginski of Appleton. She also had a stepdaughter, ClarAnn (John) Clatt of California. She had three grandchildren; Lisa (Travis) Hanson, Brett Spindler and Scott Duginski. She had two great grandchildren; Ramsey (Alex) Schwarten and Sydney Hanson and one great-great grandchild Emerie Schwarten. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. All were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Sam), her sister Janice (Harold) Martin and brother Don Mayer.
