Janice A. Palmer passed away May 14, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Janice was born in Sheboygan, on June 25, 1943, to Rudolph and Esther (Lambrecht) Mihm, she moved to Menasha in 1957 to help start Mihm's Charcoal Grill. She was a graduate of St. Mary High School of Menasha, class of 1961.
She was a longtime owner of Mihm's Charcoal Grill in Menasha, from 1981 until 2001. Member of the Wisconsin Restaurant Assoc. from 1981-2001. In 2000, she was the winner of the Wisconsin Restaurant Assoc. “Restaurateur of the year” award, it was one of her biggest achievements. She cited having raised two children and having grandchildren as the first of her achievements.
She would like to thank all of the loyal customers over the years for their support. She wished she could name them all, but she has been away from the restaurant too long.
After selling Mihm's she wintered with Pete in Orange Beach, AL. During the summers she split her time in Menasha and at Camp Wasa on Lake Superior. She enjoyed her time visiting with the grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their children, and seeing them grow up.
Surviving her are her son, Gerald (Cathy) Palmer; grandson, Daniel; daughter, Kim (James) Pollard; granddaughters, Hannah Pollard and Carol Pollard; sister, Pamela (Rich) Reinke; nieces, Kristen (Doug) Ford, Alyssa (Ryan) Bethel, and Taimi “Brat” Parey; nephew, Michael (Beth) Parey and their children: Alana, Don, Andrew, and Liam; nephew, Tim (Kristin) Parey and their children: Wyatt and Lyla; niece, Anne (Glenn) Doss and their children: Isabella, and Lillyanne; sister-in-law, Fran Palmer; best friends, Joyce Kettner and Hazel Felch; significant other, David “Pete” Peterson of 34 years.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nancy Parey and Germaine Nagel Dickerson; brothers-in-law, Donald Parey, Wayne Nagel, and Tom Dickerson; and her former husband Gerald Palmer.
A memorial gathering for Jancie will be held from Noon to 3PM, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St., Menasha.
