Janice (Effa) Brogan

Janice Grace Brogan passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on February 2, 2022. Janice was born on April 28th, 1934, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin to Genevieve (Spanner) and Joseph Effa. She was baptized and attended grade school at Saint Mary’s parish and graduated from Kaukauna High School with the class of 1952.

In 1956, Janice married “the love of my life” Robert Brogan, and together they raised five daughters. Her motto was always “family first!”  She loved to gather around the table with friends and family to play cards, a good game of scrabble or a raucous round of Catchphrase!

Janice is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years; her daughters Paula (David) McGuire; Dona (Dr.Ronald) Stegeman; Andrea (Daniel “Kurt”) Roberts; Gina Brogan; Kala (Jeff) Weber; her grandchildren; David (Laura) McGuire; Robert McGuire; Ashleigh (Charles) Thevenet; Dr. Alexander (Stephanie) Stegeman; Dr. Amanda (Dr. Matthew) Sonntag; and Luke Roberts; 11 great-grandchildren; Madilyn Roberts; Aubrey, Henry and Grace McGuire; Alice and Paul Thevenet; Harrison and Edison Stegeman; Genevieve, Giuliana and Gretchen Sonntag. Janice is further survived by her brother James (Joan) Effa; two special nephews, Philip and Joseph Corbin; as well as many other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister Geraldine; sister Jean and her husband Charles Corbin; and sister Charlotte (Joe) Weyenberg.

A mass will be held for Janice on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1:00 PM, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St, Kaukauna. A visitation will be held prior to the mass, starting at 11 AM. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will be available at wichmannfuneralhomes.com.

As per mom’s wishes; “There will be no flowers at my funeral. I had all my bouquets and plants when I could see them and smell them. Starting with the wilted dandelions and violets handed to me with tiny hands and big smiles…farewell, love you all.”
