Janice A. Mercier, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2018, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah, with her entire family by her side after a brief illness. She was born on April 11, 1943, in Green Bay, the daughter of Henry and Loretta (Danen) VanderLoop. Janice was an entrepreneur at heart, always endeavoring on a new business adventure. She was a kind, loving, generous, family oriented woman, the best mother ever. Her grandchildren will remember the many places she took them and the fun they had together. As a stay at home mom, she had the opportunity to be active in all of her daughters’ lives through Girl Scouts, PTO, etc. She was active in her church, and had a strong faith.
Janice is survived by her 3 daughters: Terri (Andy) Kososki, Susan (Steve Grade) Mercier-Grade, and Kristin (Luke) Thompson; 5 grandchildren: Marissa and Megan Kososki, Evan and Ruby Grade, and Katie Thompson; her former husband: Larry Mercier and his wife, her friend: Shirley Mercier; many other relatives and friends; especially her friends at Assisi Homes, Neenah.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral liturgy for Janice will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 State St., Appleton, with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 8:30 am until 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
Janice’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Assisi Homes, Neenah, ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah, and ThedaCare at Home and Hospice for their care and compassion.
