She was baptized on May 30, 1937, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Appleton and was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church April 29, 1951. Janet graduated from Freedom High School in 1955 and was employed by Aid Association for Lutherans. Janet was united in marriage to “Ted” Theodore Daelke, October 4, 1958, at St Peter Lutheran Church, Town of Freedom, WI and the good Lord blessed them with 64 years together. They enjoyed traveling the United States, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
She is survived by her daughter Kari Daelke, of Mesquite, Texas, and her son Kevin (Kelli) Daelke of Frisco, Texas, two grandsons Grant and Bennett Daelke, brother Frederick Techlin and sister-in-law Betty Techlin and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ted, her sister and brother-in-law Joan (Ivan) Drews, brother Carl Techlin and sister-in-law Patricia Techlin.
After marriage she taught midweek school at Faith Lutheran Church until they moved to New Jersey in 1972 due to her husband’s transfer. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ and a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Perryville, NJ. She taught Sunday school at both churches and was church secretary at Our Savior. She served as president of Lakeland Zone LWML and President of the Hunterdon County Quilters Guild. Janet was also active as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She was employed by Laneco (Super Valu) for 30 years.
After returning to Wisconsin in 2005, she became active at Faith Lutheran Church, Senior Bible Class, Senior Ministry Committee, Spiritual Care Ministry and Prayer Shawl Group. She also volunteered at Bethesda, Neenah and the Performing Arts Center in Appleton.
The Lord blessed Janet with two grandsons; they loved her pancakes and “Nana muffins”. She loved to bake cookies with them. The biggest joy was frosting and decorating cookies with them. They were covered with frosting and sugar but what a smile when they took the first bite. They also loved her garden and flowers when they came to Wisconsin.
