James “Jim” Edward Stutson, 77, passed away after a long illness on April 5, 2026, at CopperStone Assisted Living with his wife by his side.
Jim was born on December 28, 1948, in Milwaukee, to William Stutson Sr. and Marie Zoelle Stutson. He grew up in Oshkosh, where he attended Lourdes High School. He married Barbara Wicks on August 12, 1978, in Oshkosh. Jim and Barb then settled in Neenah together. Jim served in the Navy from 1967-1971, as a fireman and boiler tender on the U.S.S. Lexington in Pensacola, Florida. He received the National Defense Service Medal in honor of his service. Jim worked at Theda Clark Hospital, now ThedaCare Neenah, for 36 years as a fireman and boiler operator.
Jim loved to be in nature and enjoyed his camping adventures with Barb. He liked to garden and share the overabundance with people he knew, and he liked to work with his hands. He also loved to cook, his favorites being soups and chillis. His Labrador Retrievers were very important to him. He was also Barb’s biggest champion and supporter.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Marie Stutson; brother, William “Billy” Stutson Jr.; and sister, Kathy Schneider.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stutson; sister, Jean (Bill) King of Iowa; nieces and nephews, Maria (Jon) Graf, David (Kayla) Schneider, Brian King, and Brandon (Amy) King; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A visitation will be held for Jim on Thursday, April 23, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St, Menasha.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s name to Friends of Point Beach State Forest Group or the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Moments Hospice team, especially Kaitlin, Angie, Shayna, Sophia, Hannah, Jamie, and Jake; special caregivers, Dez and Taylor; the CopperStone team, especially Natalie, Camilyn, Natilie, Brittany, and Marlene.
