According to Jeremiah 29:11, God’s plan for Jim was fulfilled January 9, 2026, when God brought him “home.” Jim felt blessed to be born into a Christian family and believed Jesus is his savior.
Jim loved his family dearly. Since April 21, 1962, he had 56 years with his wife, Janice (Ross) and 63 years with son, James (Jimmy) K. Schroeder, Jr. He will be missed by a grandson, Tanner Micheau, Tanner’s mother Tonia Carlsen, his fiancée Jessica Puffe, and his two great-grandchildren, Luke and Laurin Micheau; granddaughter Bailey Schroeder and Bailey’s mother Virginia (Gina) Stuiber. Jim regarded Gina as his “Special Angel.” He loved special lifelong friends Pat and Mike Hase, and his exceptional neighbors.
Jim was extremely proud of his service in the Army and being a veteran. After the service, he worked as a paint manager, insurance agent, and a manager for Kimberly Clark.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching bypassers from his front porch, showing off his patriotic garden, and telling stories to anyone who would listen. His wardrobe reflected his love for the Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He even became a solicitor for the Badgers.
If looking for Jim, one would find him at a casino or in a card game. He contributed to the book, Little Ida, by Karen Cutler Drecktrah.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Clarence (Kelly) A. and Lucile (Lucy) A. (Leinwander) Schroeder, brothers David G. and Glen A. Schroeder. He is survived by his sisters Sharon L. (Warren) Schreibe and Carol J. (Tim) Hedtke, and a sister-in-law, Dianne Schroeder.
Funeral service will be held on January 31, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. The service is at 11:30 am followed by interment at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton, WI. In lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Pups4Patriots in Jim’s name to provide trained service animals to veterans (at no cost) through the American Humane Society.
