James “Jim” Douglas Orr, 86, passed away on October 11, 2026. In his final moments, his heart continued to beat until his beloved wife, Carlene, arrived at his side to hold his hand and say goodbye—a final reflection of the love they shared for more than six decades. Born June 10, 1940, in New London, Wisconsin, to Herbert and Florence (Neely) Orr, Jim grew up primarily in Clintonville, graduating from Clintonville High School in 1958. There, he met Carlene Loberg, and they married in 1961, building a beautiful life together and raising four children. Jim attended business school in Green Bay and barber school in Appleton before beginning a long career at Miller Electric, where he worked until retiring in 2005.
Jim was a gentle, soft-spoken man who made everyone feel welcome. He loved time with family and friends, summer days at the cottage, and cheering on his grandchildren at their games and events. His quiet kindness and love for family will always be remembered.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Carlene; his children, Jeffry Orr and wife Holly; Camila Gooch and her children, Megan, Aaron (Anna), and Katelynn (Kiersten); Christine Sell and her son, Andrew (Sarah); and Jason Orr and wife Erin, and their children, Logan and Ally. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Connor, Aidan, Savannah, Grace, and Ava; his great-great-granddaughter, Summer; his sister, Peggy Pelishek; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Florence Orr; his brother, Danny Orr; his brother-in-law, Ray Pelishek; his parents-in-law, Carl and Delma Loberg; and his sister-in-law, Karen Seaman.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet generosity, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. The life he and Carlene built together is a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.
A memorial service will take place on Friday October 23, 2026, at 3:00pm, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
A special thank you to the staff and residents at Dimensions Living for their kindness towards Jim’s care.
