James William Jorgenson

December 14, 1941 — August 23, 2023

Kimberly

James William Jorgenson, 81 died August 23, 2023, at Theda Clark Neenah, WI with his family by his side.

Jim was born at home in Menasha, Wisconsin on December 14, 1941, to William and Ione Jorgenson.

He graduated from Appleton Sr. High School in 1960, and then was drafted into the Army, and spent 8 years accumulating friends and memories throughout the United States and beyond until his honorable discharge on Christmas Eve, 1969.

After his service, Jim found his calling in residential home design and construction learning all the steps of the construction process. He spent time as a mason tender and bricklayer building foundations before attending DeVry University and becoming certified in Architectural Design. Soon after, Jim started J.J. Construction and went on to build over 100+ homes in the Fox Valley and surrounding areas.

Throughout the 1980’s he owned and operated J.J. Construction building Spec and Custom homes often doing most of the work himself. He was most proud of the “parade” homes he was responsible for over the years. In 1992, he took a Construction Manager position at Holbrook Builders coordinating multiple projects. At times he would be building up to 12 homes at a time. He even built some multi-residential nursing facilities towards the end of his career, but preferred working with homeowners over investors. He loved what he did and would often be found after work and on weekends helping friends and family with their construction projects.

He also had a great time coaching Y.A.B.A. youth bowling for several years at Rusch’s Lanes in Kimberly on Saturday mornings.

Jim liked spending his spare time up north at Pine Lake in Hiles, WI. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, listening to the Brewers on the radio, and relaxing by the fire. He also enjoyed many years at “Deer Camp” often reminiscing about the good times he had. He was also a respected patron at the local establishments and enjoyed the company of like-minded, blue-collar working-class individuals.

Jim is survived by his daughter Katrina, son Eric (Melissa), sisters Barb Sachs, and Peggy (Jim) Natrop. Jim is further survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob, sisters Jean Miller and Mary Jorgenson, nephew P.J. Miller, nieces Stephanie Miller and Kim Miller.

Jim was loved by all and will be greatly missed by many....for now. We’re sure the welcoming committee is happy to see you. Right behind you Dad....see you soon!
