James Guinan passed away peacefully on August 26 in Appleton Wisconsin at the age of 91, after living a very full life. He was a loving father, brother and son who is survived by four of his children, four step children and two sisters, Trudy and Irene. His wife Jean, as well as the ex-wives Beatrice and Elizabeth all predeceased him.
Born and raised in the New York City boroughs, he graduated from Brooklyn College, initially pursuing a career in journalism before ultimately finding his passion in the retailing industry and becoming the President and CEO of several large retail chains, including Bloomingdales NY.
He was an avid reader of history, taking special pride in his Irish Heritage, exhibiting the gift of gab - as one might expect. A Navy Vet from the Korean conflict, he continued with his love of the sea by sailing throughout his years.
Jim also had several other passions. After relocating to Wisconsin in 1966, he quickly became a Green Bay Packers fan and attended home games for almost 50 years, even after he had subsequently moved away to distant cities such as Scottsdale or Jacksonville. He would quote Coach Lombardi with regularity.
Jim was also a tenor who loved to sing, over the years participating in Church Choirs and continued to do so with the choir at his most recent home.
His children will hold a private memorial for him in the next several weeks.
