Jim Krause, age 55, was called home to the waiting arms of his Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Jim was born in New London on November 5, 1955, the son of Vergene (Winkler) Krause and the late Roman Krause, Jr. Jim was a 1971 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School and also attended Fox Valley Technical College. He went through the complete apprenticeship program there and became a journeyman machinist. Over the years, Jim continued to be very involved in the machinist apprenticeship program at FVTC. He began his career at Allis-Chalmers and had been working at Centerline Machining in Green Bay, but failing health forced him to take a leave from his position there. Jim enjoyed working on Ford automobiles, drag racing, and sailing with his buddy, Doug. He was also a longtime and faithful member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent for nearly thirty years.
Jim is survived by his loving mother: Vergene Krause of Appleton; two sisters: Jan (Mike) Van Zeeland of Neenah and Leanne (Keith) Stoop of Appleton; a brother: Tim (Lori) Krause of Green Bay; nieces and nephews: Ross, Shay, and Paige Van Zeeland; Tyler and Darren Stoop; and Camryn Krause; and three dear friends: Dough Hatch, Carl Van Dalen, and Dan School. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Roman Krause, Jr. who died in 1992.
The Christian Funeral for Jim will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason Street in Appleton with Rev. Paul Schuler officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
Jim's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone at Cherry Meadows Hospice. You cared for Jim as though he was your own, and cared for us like we were part of your own family. Your kindness and compassion will be forever treasured. Thank you all so very much.
