Jim Lueckenbach, age 81, passed away peacefully at the Appleton Medical Center on Friday, October 31, 2008. Jim was born in Milwaukee on November 11, 1926, son of the late William and Catherine (Brost) Lueckenbach. He attended the Milwaukee Boys' Technical School, and became a top-notch tool and die maker. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and was a longtime member of the Alonzo Cudworth Post #23 of the American Legion in Milwaukee. He married the former Eugenia Mehail in Milwaukee on October 30, 1948; she preceded him in death on April 22, 2004.
For nearly forty years, Jim was employed by A.O. Smith in Milwaukee. He spent most of his time at his cottage on the Chain O' Lakes near Waupaca where he enjoyed motorcycling, boating, and swimming until the age of 80.
Survivors include his daughter: Cathy (Bill) Raynor of Appleton; two grandchildren: Genie and Jimmy Raynor; a brother: Jack (Maryanne) Lueckenbach of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and a brother-in-law Spiro (Katy) Mehail of Milwaukee. Jim had great love for his nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, including his godson, Danny Mehail. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marian (Ralph) Fields.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 100 N. Drew Street in Appleton with Revs. Jim and Mary Trainor officiating. Visitation will begin at the church on Saturday at 1:30 PM. The service will be followed by full military honors. Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife on Saturday November 15 at 10:00 A.M. in the Barton Cemetery in the Waupaca County town of Farmington. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Jim's name is requested.
