Age 91, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at home. Jim was born on August 24, 1931 in Wabeno, Wis. to the late Beatrice Casper and James Moore. He attended De Pere Grade School and graduated from Lena High School in 1949. After High School, Jim moved to Milwaukee to start his career as a foundry worker at Allis Chalmers.
On December 1, 1951, he served in the Air Force, as A1C stateside during the Korean war. While in the Madison, he met his future wife, Bertha. Nine months later they wed on October 1, 1955 at St. Bernard Church in Madison.
Jim was proud to be a tool and die maker at I.H.C., A.M.C., Mercury Marine and finishing out his career at Voith Inc. in Appleton. He also enjoyed rebuilding engines, inventing things and tinkering with anything that didn’t work.
A true passion for Pa was gardening and teaching others to garden. He created grow boxes, vertical garden poles and garden surprises.
Jim will be fondly remembered by his children, Mimi Hatton, special friend Dean Foleske, Susan (Ronald) Bowman, Michael (Sherryl) Casper, Barbara (Peter) Yankunas, Robert (Robyn) Casper and Edward (Joy) Casper and 83 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren (he was so proud of all of them); his brothers Robert (Karen), John (Janice) and Ronald (Hope) Boudnik; brother-in-law Frederick (Ann) Sole; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2003, his son Frederick in 2006, and his grandson Jacob in 2005.
The funeral service for Jim will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK STAR OF HOPE CHAPEL, 3131 North Richmond St. Appleton. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service.
