Jacqueline "Jacquie" Watkins

Jacqueline "Jacquie" Vertonia Watkins, age 76, of Menasha, WI, joined her heavenly kingdom on November 11, 2023. She was born to Alious Clifton and Willie Mae (Fowler) Watkins on November 8, 1947 in Chicago, IL, a place that will forever be home to Jacquie. She graduated from Hyde Park Academy with the class of 1965 and went on to work as a receptionist for several different medical offices, and for the telephone company for many years.

Jacquie was a feisty, quick-witted woman who wanted things done her way. She loved her Lord and Savior and spread that love through her actions and her beautiful voice. Jacquie was a singer and could often be heard singing gospel music, R&B, or rock and roll. She always spent as much time as she could with her family, especially her numerous nephews and nieces.

Jacquie is survived by her sisters, Garnett Watkins Collins and Dorothy Watkins; her son, Lance Watkins; her brother-in-law, O’dell Hicks; her two sisters-in-law, Stephanie Brown (Watkins) and Evelyn R. Curington (Watkins); and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jacquie is preceded in death by her parents, Alious Clifton Watkins, Sr. and Willie Mae Fowler Watkins; her siblings, Thelma Watkins Taylor, Lenora Watkins Allen, Doris Watkins Hicks, and Alious Clifton Watkins, Jr.; and her son, Joshua Watkins.

A memorial service will be held for Jacquie in her hometown of Chicago, IL at a time and place yet to be determined.  Jacquie will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton, WI.
