ALGER, IRENE A. (nee Beford)
Irene A. Alger passed away on August 28, 2009 at the St. Paul Home in Kaukauna where she had resided since 2007. She was born on May 7, 1917 in Ellis, Kansas, the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Keberlein) Beford. On November 11, 1939 she married Havey Oscar Alger and they resided in Kaukauna all their married lives. They were member of the Kaukauna Elks Lodge and they developed many friendships through golf and bowling during their retirement years. Harvey died in 1998. Irene was employed for over 25 years as a clothes consultant in Appleton at the Rose Shop, Neumans, and in the shoe department at Graces.
Irene is survived by her daughter: Carol Ann (Don) Frank; daughter-in-law: Dottie Kilgas; grandsons: Clay (Jennifer), Trevor (Carol) and Joel (Mika) Frank: Jeffrey (K.C.) and Bradley Kilgas; three great-granddaughters: Meredith, Madeline and Thea Frank; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Beford and Ruth Wier. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as, dear and faithful friends, Boots, Amede, Julienne, Carol and Ivo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harvey Alger; five brothers: George, Ralph (Margaret), Isadore (Ethyl), John (Emily) and Robert Beford; three sisters: Josephine Kilgas, Mary DeWerd and Helen Ziemer; infant siblings: Alex I, Emily and Alex II. Irene's son, James Kilgas died in 1997.
The funeral liturgy for Irene will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of mass. Fathers Jim Lucas and Bob Vandenberg will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Memorials may be directed in Irene's name to St. Paul Hospice at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna.
Irene made an impression on the nursing and CNA staff at St. Paul Home and we sincerely thank them for their dedicated and loving care of Mother.
