Ila Mae Langenhuizen, age 87, passed on peacefully Sunday morning, July 21, 2013 at Theda Care At Home Hospice. Ila Mae was born in Kimberly, June 15, 1926 to Joe and Regina Friebel. She met George Langenhuizen at the Cincerella Ballroom in 1941 and their love story continued with their marriage on February 23, 1946 at Holy Name Church, Kimberly. Ila Mae was a dedicated mother of seven children and a faithful supporter of George, helping manage their home construction and apartment business. Ila Mae and George spent sixty-four years together with many time-outs for fishing in Michigan and Minnesota with their family and later enjoying their winters in Arizona. An avid crocheter, Ila Mae lovingly created afghans, scarves and hats which were given to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and Harbor House Domestic Abuse Program.
She is survived by her seven children: Tom (Jean) Langenhuizen of Kimberly; Ron (Delilah) Langenhuizen of Palmer, Alaska; Lyle Langenhuizen of Big Falls, Wisconsin; Nancy Langenhuizen of Appleton; Mark (LuAnn) Langenhuizen of Kaukauna; Jane (Vic) Werner of Hortonville; and Lori (Jim) Van Dyke of Kimberly; 15 grandchildren; Karyn (Rick) Rittenhouse, Bill Langenhuizen, Tim Langenhuizen, Jennifer (Jason) Green, Sarah (Lucas) Van Buskirk, Bill (Angie) Hanselman, Bob (Tammy) Hanselman, Melinda (Nick) Lamphere, Catherine (Steve) Johannes, Christina (Joe) Stiehm, George (Amanda Janssen) Langenhuizen, Dawn Werner, Mike (Abby) Werner and Michelle (Rob) Best. There are also seventeen great grandchildren: Morgan, Kobi, Grace, Samantha, Savanah, Peyton, Liam, Payton, Chase, Hannah, Alaina, Ethan, Hannah, Jackson, Hunter, Deja and Brody. Ila Mae is further survived by a brother: Dick Friebel; a sister: Margaret Greely and a brother-in-law: Harry Langenhuizen. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Regina Friebel; a brother: Romie and a sister: Dorothy “Sis” Langenhuizen.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 26 at Holy Spirit/Holy Name Church, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The Langenhuizen family is very grateful for all the exceptional services provided by the Theda Care at Home Hospice team, the nursing staffs at Peabody Manor and the Heritage with special recognition to Dawn Werner for her superior, caring skills which gave Ila Mae so much comfort. Your gift is a blessing to the family.
