Helen Louise Limberg, 73, of Neenah, died on June 28, 2024.
She was the daughter of Dr. Allen William Limberg and Ruth Helen Alma Kirchheiner Limberg of Glenwood City, WI. She was named after her mother, Ruth Helen, and Paternal grandmother, Helen Althea Wade Limberg Wittkopp.
Helen was born on September 7, 1950, and raised in Glenwood City. She graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1968 and earned a BA in Secondary Education- English major; Latin, minor from Lakeland College. She earned her MSE- Reading from UW- Oshkosh. Helen taught English for 7th-9th grades in the Appleton Area School District for 33 years. During her teaching career she was the student council advisor (also Wisconsin Association of School councils-WASC-Middle/Junior High State Advisor, WASC District 3 Advisor; WASC Board member, WASC summer camp advisor, WASC cheerleading camp advisor, WASC Leadership Award recipient), cheerleading advisor, cross country coach, track coach, newspaper advisor, yearbook advisor, debate coach, forensics coach, drama director, committee member (curriculum, textbook selection, budget, faculty advisory council, in-service) summer school teacher, in-service presenter, state theater auditions timer, newspaper editor for the Wisconsin Theater Association (WTA), WTA Convention Board, Associate in Rhetoric UI- Urbana, Fox Valley Writing Project Associate, and NCTE Outstanding 8th Grade Writing judge.
During retirement Helen tutored at the YMCA and was part of the Victim Crisis Response team. Her summers were spent taking classes, traveling (US, SA, Europe), and working for various companies in the Fox Valley through Manpower or Kelly Services.
Helen not only made an enormous positive impact in the community and school district, but she was also deeply committed to her family. Helen was a strong cornerstone to many lives, mentoring, offering travel opportunities, proof reading and an all-around resource to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and the whole family. She had a wealth of knowledge and lovingly shared it with all.
She is survived by her siblings: Barbara (Len) Kachinsky, Neenah; Nancy (Terry) Kohlhepp, Eau Claire; Hollis (Janet) Limberg, Mounds View MN; Allen (Barb Bradley) Limberg, Wausau; Martha (Jim) Jacobson, Waukesha; John (Lisa) Limberg, Ham Lake, MN, 16 nieces/nephews and their spouses, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Jim Jacobson.
Helen's family would like to extend a very warm thank you to her many dear friends who were an intregal part of her life.
There will be a service at the Wade/Limberg family plot in Greenbush Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity or volunteer at a charity.
