Helen Josephine Garrity

Helen Josephine Garrity, age 98, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023 at her home with her daughter Patricia at her side. She was born on May 28, 1925 in Bear Creek Wisconsin to the late Lawrence and Helen (Stanton) Rebman. She was a graduate of Bear Creek High School, Class of 1943. On February 18, 1947 she married Aloysius J. Garrity and he preceded her in death in 2000. Faith and family mattered more than anything to Helen. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, and loved to pray the rosary and attend Mass. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting. 

She will be missed by children: Patricia (Gary) Jankowski, Elizabeth (Mark) Flora, Timothy (Tammy) Garrity, Thomas (Bev) Garrity, Lawrence (Judy) Garrity, Sue (Bruce) Siebers, Sarah (Jeff) Vermeer, Mick (Donna) Garrity, Kathleen Scott, and Becky (Giff) Miller, 20 grandchildren 39 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, brother Hubert Rebman, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Aloysius, one great-grandchild Samuel Bauman, and 2 sisters and 6 brothers. 

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Helen on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton with Fr. Robert Karuhn and Fr. John Katamba concelebrating. There will be a visitation preceding the Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery of Appleton. The family would like to express a thank you to the many friends and relatives who called and visited Helen.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established with donations being given to Sacred Heart Parish.
