Harriet, born April 17, 1914 in Red River, Wisconsin passed away at the age of 95 on Friday, June 26, 2009 in Milwaukee. She was the wife of the late Clifford Wydeven; daughter of the late Reverend Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Messick) Kilpatrick; and sister of the late Jane Doerfler.
Much of Harriet's childhood was spent living on numerous Native American reservations throughout the Southwest states, while her parents served as missionaries for the Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1932. On January 16, 1954 she married Clifford Wydeven of Kimberly and spent the following 30 joyful years living on the northern edge of Lake Winnebago. When Harriet and Cliff retired they moved north to Eagle River – where Cliff passed away in 1986. She resided in Eagle River for a total of 10 years before moving back to the Fox Valley and eventually to Milwaukee in November of 2007.
Harriet is survived by her daughter: Ruth Wydeven, Greeley, Colorado and her children: Matthew Van Deraa and Lydia Van Deraa; and by her son: Bruce Wydeven, Milwaukee, and his wife, Ann (Mory) Wydeven and their children, Monika and Andrew Wydeven.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Harriet's life on Monday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. – St. John's United Congregational Church, 1130 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Rev. Tom Fritz officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 5:30 pm until the time of service. Inurnment will be held at St.Peter's Cemetery in Eagle River by her husband.
