Gordon Evers, of Combined Locks, age 74 years, died on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. He was born on August 25, 1934 in Little Chute, the son of the late John and Minnie (Hietpas) Evers. Gordon served in the U.S. Army from January 1957- July 1958. On November 16, 1960 he married Rosalie Siegel at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks. Gordy was a custodian in the Kimberly Area School District for thirty years, retiring in 1990. He was a member and usher at St. Paul Catholic Church. Gordon was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a retired Combined Locks firefighter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, baseball, playing cards, and working on small engines.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife: Rosalie Evers, Combined Locks; his children: Cathy (Mike) Hughes of Combined Locks and their children, Joshua (Julie Ann) Hughes, Emily (finacee Michael Neils) Hughes and Jonathan Hughes; Rick (Lana) Evers of Piscataway, New Jersey and their children, Megan and Brandon Evers; John (Jill) Evers of Combined Locks and their daughter, Haley Evers; Ann (Dan) Wynboom of Appleton and their children, Andrew and Danielle Wynboom and Melissa (Mike) Benton of Greenville and their children, Wyatt, Garrett and Paige Benton; his sisters: Delia Joosten, Kimberly and Katie (Raymond) Brockman, Little Chute; his brothers: Hank (Ade) Evers, Darboy; Sebastian “Whitey” (Peggy) Evers, Little Chute; George (Celeste) Evers, Appleton; Tony (Lorayne) Evers, Little Chute and Donnie Evers, Little Chute; brother-in-law: Ronald Beattie, Little Chute and sister-in-law: Vi Evers, Kaukauna. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Ann Beattie; brothers, Ed Evers and Ray (Del) Evers; sister-in-law, Elaine Evers and his grandson, Joshua D. Hughes.
The funeral liturgy for Gordon will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks. Father Jim Lucas and Father Bob Vandenberg will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Special thanks to the nursing staff and employees of Stordock Hall at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King and ThedaCare at Home Hospice. You were like family to our dad and us. We appreciate the wonderful care you provided for him. A special thanks to Ken Femrite (Dad's roommate).
