Gloria Sivertsen, age 89, met Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on June 1, 2025. Gloria was born in Hilbert, Wisconsin, on January 18, 1936, to Elmer and Emma Koffarnus. She was married to John Sivertsen on October 10, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Gloria was a loving marriage companion to John and a wonderful mom and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She had wonderful culinary skills, was a good prayer partner, office manager and skilled in keeping books for the family budget throughout their marriage. Gloria was also a key part in helping John manage several restaurants: training personnel, waitresses and hosts, and conducting the bookkeeping.
Gloria was also focused on being a Christian influence on her family and was a great encourager to John in his Christian walk. She was very active in her Christian faith collaborating with Ladies Guilds, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School wherever they lived. She worked in the evangelism field as a Chairwoman of local Christian Women’s Clubs (CWC), and area rep for Stonecroft Ministries. She was trained to be a Bible study leader for Precept Ministries. As a speaker for CWC she encouraged her audience to invite Jesus Christ into their hearts. She also spoke on Sanibel Island, Florida, during their many island vacations. In the early 1970s, Billy Graham brought his crusades to the Fox Valley, and she volunteered to be a counselor at these events. She led many attendees in the Salvation Prayer.
Gloria and John enjoyed over 71 years of marriage, and she was John’s dependable “first mate” on their many all-day boat trips on the Wolf River. She knew how to have good times with family and friends. Her address file was always on the corner of her desk so that she would not miss sending any birthday, anniversary or get-well cards to family and friends. She was always eager to phone them to see how they were doing and to encourage them. Whenever there were family or friends over, she always did an excellent job getting everything organized and making sure everybody was having a good time. Many good friends were made because she was so outgoing and friendly with a great smile. People she would run into from earlier years would always recognize her.
She is survived by her husband John, and children Mike (Joyce) Sivertsen, Nancy (Bill) Bush, and Jim (Maribel) Sivertsen; her grandchildren Alissa (Michael), Mark (Kelly), Erica (David), Jordan (Katie), Alex (Kerry), Michael, Gabrielle, Ruth; and her great grandchildren Clara, Madeleine, Michael, Bella, Kaylee, Piper, Leonidas, Eliana, Alyce, Emma — all of whom will miss her greatly.
At 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Pastor John Kieffer will lead a worship service of thanks for the life of Gloria Sivertsen. Friends are welcome to gather to visit at the Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton from 11:00 AM until the time of service.. Following the service, Gloria will be placed at rest at Riverside Cemetery.
