Gloria Jean Jahnke

Age 96, of Appleton passed away on January 8th, 2021. Gloria was born in Fond du Lac to Lloyd and Olga (Heber) Costello on October 3, 1924. Gloria attended school at Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, WI. She worked as a school secretary for the Appleton Public School System for 22 years. After Gloria retired, she continued to sub in the school system for another 22 more years. After that she volunteered for several more years. Her dedication was above and beyond. She received several awards and honors for dance and piano recitals during high school. She enjoyed her Bible studies and all her friends at Bethany up until COVID. Gloria was the best Grandma ever. She loved her grandchildren all so much!
Gloria is survived by her daughter Carol Jahnke; grandson Curt (Stacy) Swanson, great-grandchildren Olivia and Ian, granddaughter Sarah (Will Schryver) Vivoda, great-grandchildren, Aiden Bradfield and Amorelle Schryver.
She is further survived by her daughter, Linda (Howard) Osborn of CA, grandchildren, Amy, Jim, and Wendy; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Gloria is also survived by her stepsons Dan Jahnke and David (Michelle) Jahnke and her dear friends that are like family: Marcia and Lloyd, Jean and Joe, Carl and Linda, Gordy and Mary, Linda and Chuck, Sharon and Jim. Many more dear family and friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Howard Osborn, special friend Bob Merkel and many more beloved family and friends.
The family of Gloria wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at ARC, Care Partners and Thedacare Hospice. Amber, what would I have done without you and the others? Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project in Gloria’s name are appreciated.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held at Highland Memorial Park Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond Street, on Thursday January 14, 2021 at 12:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
