Gerald "Jerry" Lux, 81, loving husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2024 at St. Paul Memory Care in Kaukauna, WI, surrounded by family and loved ones after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease for over 10 years. Jerry was born on April 14, 1943 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Albert Lux and Dora Roovers (Champeau) and grew up and lived his entire life in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Jerry married Mary “Kathy” Weyenberg on January 25, 1964, and settled in Kimberly, WI. Together they raised two children Timothy and Michael Lux and remained happily married for the rest of Jerry's life, with Kathy by his side when he passed.
Shortly after marrying Kathy, Jerry began a career at Miller Electric Corporation, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1998. During his younger days Jerry was also a beloved bartender at a local bowling alley in Kimberly, where he was known for his infectious smile, good natured disposition and for mixing one the best Old Fashioneds in the Fox Valley.
After retiring from Miller Electric, Jerry and Kathy moved to their land in Wild Rose, WI, where they built a home and Jerry began a second career volunteering at the Waushara County Food Pantry. Having come from humble beginnings, ensuring those less fortunate had food to eat was very important to Jerry, and he dedicated his time, talents and energy after early retirement to the Pantry.
Jerry was also a card shark, who enjoyed playing Sheepshead and Cribbage (which he always seemed to win). An avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved to camp, fish, hunt and spend time outside with family and friends and was renowned as an outdoor master chef, who could cook anything to perfection over an open fire.
For many years, Jerry traveled each winter with Kathy and close friends to Mexico to shake off the cold Wisconsin winter. These trips were filled with warm days, sandy beaches and lots of time by the ocean and brought Jerry tremendous joy. Always up for a little adventure, Jerry surprised everyone the year he turned 50, when he returned from vacation with a sun tattooed on his right arm, permanently inking his love and gratitude for a beautiful day on a sandy ocean beach.
Jerry is survived by his wife Kathy Lux and son Michael Lux; siblings Barb Koehn, Larry (Diane) Roovers, Terry (Jan) Roovers; sister-in-law Trish Weyenberg and brothers-in-law Don Uecker and Howard Lipson; grandchildren Dan Lux, Lisa Morales and Elizabeth Lux.
Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved son Tim Lux, sister Carol Uecker, brother Gene Lux.
A visitation for Jerry will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave. in Kimberly, WI 54136, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna and/or ThedaCare at Home Hospice. The family would like to thank both of these organizations for the compassionate and dignified care they gave their beloved father, grandfather and husband.
