George Robert Sahotsky, age 79 of Menasha, WI passed away on July 18, 2026. He was born to George and Ann (Witkowski) Sahotsky on May 9, 1947 in Neenah, WI. Shortly after graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Menasha with the class of ’66, he enlisted with the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict and served as an electrician’s mate on an aircraft carrier. Upon returning to the United States, George went to college at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay for 3 years. He started working at American Can and faithfully served them for 31 years before his retirement in 2012. George met his fiancée, Susan Driscoll, when they were young and reconnected a number of years ago. While he never had kids of his own, he loved Sue’s kids as if they were his own.

George was a truly wonderful, kind man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, and watching the Brewers with Sue and friends. George enjoyed old time rock and roll music – you could count on hearing bands like the Doors, the Band, or John Lennon if you spent enough time around him. He liked playing a good game of golf with friends, family, or even strangers. George was proud to be over 20 years sober and enjoyed spending time with his buddies in A.A. He would never admit it himself, but he changed so many lives for the better and helped so many people with that struggle. More than anything, though, George loved his family and cherished every moment he could spend with his fiancée, his honorary stepdaughters, and his nieces and nephews.

George will be missed by his fiancée of 17 years, Sue; his honorary stepdaughters, Amy and Lisa; his honorary grandchildren, Aiden, Dillon, Gavin, Liam, Kyler, and Quinn; his nieces and nephews, Linda (Gary), Dan, Beverly (Jeff), Richard (Joany), Cheryl (Digger), Nancy, Laurie, Kathy (Dave), Julia (Mike), Toni (Rick), and Wendy; as well as many other extended relatives and dear friends.

George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ann; and his siblings, Patricia (Bob), Robert (Marilyn), and Kay.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, 1592 S. Oneida St, Menasha, WI 54911 with a memorial service and military honors to follow at 11 AM. George will be laid to rest with his parents at St. John Cemetery in Menasha, WI following the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee in honor of George’s wishes.

George’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and other supporting staff at ThedaCare At Home Hospice, ThedaCare Cancer Center, and Cherry Meadows for all of their care, compassion, and expertise shown to George during his times of need.

George had a quiet way of making the world a better place.  Whether through his kindness, his generosity, or simply the way he loved the people around him, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on in all of us.
