George A. Sim, III

Age 88, died on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Fox River Assisted Living. George was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 16, 1917, son of the late George A. Jr. and Myrtle (Falk) Sim. He married Rose Ida Zuhse June 12, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1991. George was employed as an inspector at Valley Iron Works (Allis Chalmers), where he retired after 32 years of service. He was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church. George was an active member of the Free and Accepted Mason’s-Appleton Lodge #349; Past Master of Lodge #349; Past Grand Tiler of Wisconsin; a member of Knights Templar-Appleton Commandery No. 29 and a member of Appleton Chapter 47-Royal Arch Mason’s. He is survived by his children: Bonnie Rose (John) Doerfler, Appleton; George A. (Geraldine) Sim, IV, Lake in the Hills, IL; Bruce (Dee) Sim, Neenah; Candace (Craig) Danielson, Hugo, MN; 10 grandchildren: Jeff (Linda) Doerfler; Jody (Pete) Running; Audrey (Tim) Stirneman; Aaron, Eric, Courtney, Brandon, and Grant Sim; Jennifer (Chad) Gerrits; Erik Danielson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Philip (Caroline) Zuhse and 4 sisters-in-law, Mildred Sim; Irene Story; Peggy Zuhse and Verdell (Pete) Stoop. George was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Neil and Jack, and 2 sisters, Patricia and Myrtle Sim. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton, with Rev. Paul Svingen officiating. Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday, April 22 from 4 until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until the time of service. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be directed to benefit the American Cancer Society (1-800-ACS-2345).
