In the early hours of Tuesday September 23,2025, our heavenly father called one of his faithful children, Gavino C. Martinez home to be with him. He was born on March 15, 1949, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Franciso and Epolita (Castillo) Martinez.
On March 25,1976, Gavino married the love of his life, Jean Bentle. Two years later they welcomed their first son, Robert Sr. Shortly after they welcomed their second son, Aaron.
Gavino embraced many roles throughout his life. His biggest passions were over the road trucking and woodworking in his workshop at home. A love for the Dallas Cowboys was a permanent fixture in his life, and he passed that passion onto his sons, grandchildren and even his great-grandchildren.
Above all, Gavino’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Jean Martinez. He is also survived by his children Robert Sr.(Heather), Aaron and Nicole; his grandchildren Anthony(Kayonna), Anieca, Robert Jr., Dennis, Jazaria and Preston; great-grandchildren Avalina, Abel, Anastasia. All who he cherished very much.
He is also remembered by his siblings Jesus (Siegrun) Martinez, Waynesville, Missouri; Simon Martinez, Appleton; Velma (Johnny) Bautista, Houston, Texas; David Martinez, Appleton; and Esther (Jesse) Schoen, Appleton; brother-in-law Sergio Garcia, Appleton. Also remembered by his sister in-laws Darla, Donna and Sharon(Joe) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Francisco; mother Epolita (Castillo) and stepfather Santos; brothers Antonio, Rene; and sisters Esmerelda(Molly), Maria (Chio), and Diana. He is also preceded in death by his in-laws Milton and Florence Bentle. His brother in-law Bob Bentle and nephew Dennis Guyette.
A funeral service for Gavino will take place on Monday September 29, 2025, at 5:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street, Fox Crossing. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 2:00pm until the service begins. The Dallas Cowboys have lost their biggest fan. May he watch and cheer the Cowboys from heaven.
