Garnett Mae Woods

July 10, 1939 — January 30, 2022

Garnett Mae Woods, age 82, was called home by the heavenly angels on Sunday January 30, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born July 10, 1939, to Walter and Laura Luebke in Appleton, WI. On February 15, 1958, she married her love Jack Woods, who proceeded her death in 1993.

Garnett entered the workforce after being widowed at age 54. She spent many years babysitting and later worked at RJ Marx and Resource One. Despite the struggles of coping through her loss and beginning the next chapter, her faith and support of her family gave her the confidence to find her strength to carry on. An escape to the family cottage in Pelican Lake was always an enjoyed time with family around the kitchen table enjoying a meal, playing games, and making cards. And the peaceful swing and the calmness of a sunset across the lake.

She enjoyed taking small day trips just for a drive to enjoy the other’s company and the scenery surrounding by. She loved to capture the moment to cherish the memory forever. Her hands were rarely still as she loved to scrapbook all the pictures. You were sure to receive a handmade card for any holiday or occasion. If her hands were still, there was a good chance the phone line was busy.

She had a close relationship with her sisters and connected on every level. They were always there for each other to the very last moment. Garnett had many things that brought her joy but greatest of them was her family. She truly loved her family more than words can express. She cherished every moment with them, and those memories will be in our hearts forever.

Garnett lived her life through faith and strength; even though she never realized how much strength she truly had. “Be kind and compassionate to each other forgiving each other as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. “there is no love without forgiveness, and no forgiveness without love.” It is that love that will continue forever. Until we meet again Grandma-

Her family grieves her loss, but they find comfort knowing she is home with her husband Jack and has joined the angels to look over us all.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Denise (Kenneth) Fickel and son Keith (Tracy) Woods;  grandchildren Ryan (Claire) Fickel, Kevin Fickel, Leslie (Jesse) Matz, Cory Fickel, Nicholas Fickel, Bradley Woods, and Connor Woods; great grandchildren Isaac, Ethan and Asher Matz and Bennett Fickel; her sisters Joyce (Allen) Malueg and Luella (Bill) Kietz, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Jack Woods, sister Ginny (Stanley) Altenhofen and her parents Walter and Laura Luebke.

Funeral services for Garnett will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 302 N Morrison St, with Pastor Kenneth Frey officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
