Frederick D. Lecker

March 6, 1932 — February 21, 2004

Age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 21, 2004 while traveling in Upper Michigan. Fred was born March 6, 1932 in Appleton, son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Kuhn) Lecker, Jr. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Appleton and on November 3, 1951 married the former Joyce Staples in Appleton. For over forty years, Fred worked for the American Breeders Association and serviced area dairy farms for that entire time. He was still active in the business until the time of his death. He enjoyed camping with the family up north, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Joyce Lecker of Appleton; seven children: Victoria (Duane) Wendt of Waupaca; Sandra Geiger of Hortonville; Katherine (John) Peotter of Appleton; Fred (Rhonda) Lecker of Freedom; Judy (Neal) Fischer of Seymour; Penny (Chris) Van Camp of Freedom; Tim (Cheryl) Lecker of Appleton; seventeen grandchildren: Bobbie Heagle, Brett Derus, Billie Barth, Cindy Ackerman, Lorie Wendt, Carey Rowe, Lori Geiger, Kim Geiger, Christopher Peotter, Michael Peotter, Jeff Lecker, Nicole Lecker, Kevin Fischer, Keith Fischer, Jesse Van Camp, Rachel Van Camp, and Morgan Lecker; six great-grandchildren; four brothers: Earl (Olive) Lecker of Appleton, Roy (Karen) Lecker of Shawano, Roland (Bonnie) Lecker of Cecil, and Richard (Ginny) Lecker of Appleton; two sisters: Verna Forslund of Green Bay and Elaine Mueller; a sister-in-law: Nancy (Wayne) Borsche of Shawano. Fred is also survived by Gladys Timm and her family, who are longtime and dear friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Rose Lecker, two sons Gary Lecker and Jeff Lecker, a brother Donald Lecker, two brothers-in-law Clarence "Tinsey" Forslund and Orlo Mueller, and by Joyce's parents Ralph and Eunice Staples.

Funeral services for Fred will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM and again at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 PM until the hour of the service. There will be a time for sharing memories of Fred at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM.
